This is most definitely one of my favourite times of year…the summer farmers market near my home opens this weekend. While I adore the winter market that is located just down the hill from where I live (especially for picking up special gifts for the holiday season!), the summer ones have a very special energy. They’re bursting with people, farmers and a variety of produce – and the sun always seems to be shining. Even the fruits and veggies seem more chipper!
It’s not often enough that something you absolutely love also happens to be good for you, your community and the planet. For me, that “thing” is shopping at the farmers market.
It’s become a ritual in our home. Every Sunday morning, my husband and I grab our shopping bags and head out to the Coquitlam Farmers Market to get a week’s supply of the freshest fruits, vegetables, bread, honey and eggs.
